Japan Will Build Space Elevator By 2050

Japanese construction giant Obayashi publicizes its ideas to construct a Space Elevator by 2050, which once was only the realm of science fiction. This space elevator is scheduled to stretch a length of 96,000 kilometers into space, just right above the earth. A research and development manager, Yoji Ishikawa, at Obayashi spoke to ABC:  “It will take seven days to get there. A space elevator can now become a reality because of the development of carbon nanotechnology. The tensile strength is almost a hundred times stronger than steel cable so it’s possible.” Well after learning about their plan I think it may not be too time-consuming before the moon is the next must-see tourist terminus.
